Remembering D-Day

Today we remember the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, when thousands of courageous Americans stormed the beaches of Normandy against nearly insurmountable odds in the name of freedom.

Their service and sacrifice helped liberate millions in Europe from the grip of tyranny and must never be forgotten. I never cease to be overwhelmed by the awe of the sacrifice made that day. Let this day not only be a day of remembrance, but a day when we renew our commitment to the blessing of liberty and freedom, that we show them by our actions that we understand what they gave their lives for, and that we honor those who have served.
